On another note, we are exciting to report that Ballen has ventured into colour photography for the first time ever, capturing the South African band Die Antwoord. Ninja and Yo-Landi were photographed in Johannesburg in 2018 and these images epitomize the Ballenesque aesthetic and the spirit of the duo. This exciting collaboration is the first time that Roger Ballen has photographed in colour but his work with Die Antwoord is legendary.
