OR
When you purchase an NFT by Steven Daily are you getting a complimentary magazine?
Such is the shifting sands of our reality. Value is moving between the “real” world and the “digital” world. And one day soon, this idea of a curtain between the two worlds will seem quaint. We will no longer ask if it’s “real”. It’s all real. Welcome to the future.
In partnership with INFTSPACES
To the best of our knowledge, THE LAB MAG is proud to be the first ever printed publication to offer free fine art NFTs when you purchase a copy.
Three artists have joined our project.
MEET STEVEN DAILY
As we proudly reveal his NFT artwork Scapegoat published in FUTURO (Scapegoat could be yours!)
Tell us how did you become an artist?
I’ve always wanted to make things since I was a child. Drawing came naturally to me. I would wonder “how could I draw that?”. I pretty much started as a copy artist, comic books, skateboard graphics, and album covers—learning techniques from those artists.
Can you talk about your process, a day in the life?
I’m an oil painter, so a good drawing and concept is a great foundation for me.
Everything starts with a pencil.
I start to work out the concept and the composition. Transfer it to a gessoed panel with transfer paper. Start the underpainting, usually in raw umber, sometimes grisaille. Then, I start blocking in colour and lighting. Finally, I add thin washes to give the piece depth and textures.
If I work digitally, I do the same process but with pixels and light—mimicking pigments. I never make a piece digitally that I can’t paint physically.
What fires your passion for NFTs?
To see where all this ends up. Will we realize some ideas and technologies are not good for society? Will things get weirder and weirder? Or will we persevere and make a utopian world where people are better off?
What's the best advice you've ever been given? And the worst?
Best advice: Live in the moment; life is a journey, not a destination.
Worst advice: You are in control; go out and make it happen.
What motto do you live by?
Make the most of every day; we are not guaranteed tomorrow.
