COME SWIM
A FILM BY Kristen Stewart
On the release of Kristen Stewart’s latest film Love Lies Bleeding from director Rose Glass, we dive into our archives to bring you an article on Stewart’s directorial debut Come Swim from the IMAGE edition.
“This film all started with an image: the idea of a pleasant nap on the ocean floor. The lovely isolation from anything else that breathes, or my compulsive thought process.
I painted it. I wrote poetry about why I painted it. I wanted to capture this image as obsessively as the recurring thoughts that conjured the image in the first place. What started with one picture in my mind was in fact something much more expansive. I found a through line. The painting. The words. Everything was connected. I had finally found my first piece.”

LOVE LIES BLEEDING
Always an enigmatic actress, Stewart brings her own sense of style and substance to every project she does. Love Lies Bleeding is no exception.
A tale of reclusive gym manager Lou who falls hard for Jackie, a bodybuilder passing through town en route to a competition in Vegas. But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.
In further exciting news, Stewart is also set to appear in Flesh of the Gods, a vampire movie from the director Panos Cosmatos. Set in LA during the hedonistic 80’s.
The film sees married couple Alex (Stewart) and Raoul (Oscar Isaac) living in a luxury skyscraper, but leaving every night to spend time in the “glittering ’80s LA” scene. The director stated “Like Los Angeles itself Flesh of the Gods inhabits the liminal realm between fantasy and nightmare. Both propulsive and hypnotic, Flesh will take you on a hot rod joy ride deep into the glittering heart of hell.”
This sounds like another Kristen Stewart film we can’t wait to sink our teeth into.
