In a time when the world yearns for inspiration, the Concorde’s story serves as a powerful reminder of what is possible when innovation and design converge. This edition of Supersonic is not just a look back but a call to dream forward, to embrace the transformative power of design, and to inspire a new generation to push beyond the imaginable.
Lawrence Azerrad, a two-time Grammy-winning creative director, originally authored Supersonic to celebrate the design legacy of Concorde. In this third edition of the book, Azerrad includes renowned fashion designer Clare Vivier to contribute an inspiring new foreword exploring the profound connection between the Concorde and French design.
Vivier reflects on this spirit, stating,“Taking risks and pushing boundaries—whether designing a handbag or refining a space—is central to my work. Like flying Concorde, it’s about creating experiences that move us.”

The Concorde was more than an aircraft; it was a bold vision realized. Its striking design transformed it from mere transportation into an emblem of possibility, defying the limits of what we thought achievable. It invited us to dream bigger, embodying a cultural phenomenon that transcended aviation.
“Concorde provides an example of aspiration that we can learn from today. It’s an invitation to dream and create. It provides a calling that is needed now more than ever.”
Sir Terence Conran
Azerrad’s celebrated work in music and design underscores how bold design thinking inspires progress—a legacy embodied by the Concorde.
