Roger Ballen & Gabriele Tinti
The Artist & the Poet
We are thrilled to announce Roger Ballen and Gabriele Tinti will be featured in NATURA, the next issue of the Lab Mag. We will publish excerpts from their powerful new book The Earth Will Come to Laugh and Feast.
If you can’t wait until August, we suggest you get a copy from Powerhouse books . The collaboration ignites our subconscious to devastating effect. These are images and words you are unlikely to forget, a wildfire of unknowns lit deep inside the unconscious mind.
As Tinti says “this partnership moves from the rubble, passes through cemeteries, sniffs out the signs of what has gone. Roger Ballen’s photos, my words, are a kind of defense against the terrible power of death. They are an accumulation of enthusiasm, injuries, obsessions. They are effigies composed to disturb the reader, to ambush the thought, the things”.
Fragments
The morning is at an end.
The throat is throttled on a last meal,
it has thrown up and stopped the breath.
You looked where you shouldn’t have,
you mistreated dreams,
burnt every space.
Your feet are cold,
they remain only
to compose the scene.
Il mattino è alla fine.
La gola s’è stretta in un ultimo pasto,
ha rigettato e fermato il respiro.
Hai guardato dove non dovevi,
hai maltrattato i sogni,
bruciato ogni spazio.
I tuoi piedi sono freddi,
rimangono soltanto
per comporre la scena.
