The Colour Storm

Imagine a world where colours are for sale only to the highest bidder; a world where an artist would go to any length to get their hands on ultramarine blue, and a colour could incite murder.

This is Venice during the Renaissance, a world full of violence, greed and intrigue. It is the setting for The Colour Storm, a new novel by Damian Dibben. Artist Zorzo Giorgione is on the hunt for a mythical colour that will save his studio and set his career on fire but instead he stumbles into a Hitchcockian thriller with a complicated femme fatale at the centre of a mystery that envelopes the whole of Europe.

Dibben has always been interested in creating worlds. Whether it’s on the written page, or for the theatre or film or using his home as a canvas. He trained as an artist and scenic designer, and so it is no surprise that his imagination would spill off the page and into the real world. His vision cannot be contained.

Step into the physical interpretation of The Colour Storm constructed from the mind of it’s author. Collected objects and colourful furniture reflect his creative process. This is a shop like no other. It’s furniture meets art, meets literature, meets colour. And it’s lucky for us that we are all invited.

During the Renaissance, Venice embodied the production and trade of luxury goods. The use of colour gave the city it’s cultural identity and was used to convey wealth, power, and status. Dibben gives us a modern twist, the perfect concoction for a modern London, echoes of the past are given a fresh coat of paint.

And don’t forget to read the book - the place where it all began.
