MEET THE CONTRIBUTORS
LANDON ROSS + STEPHEN FRY
“So, have a few among us now stolen fire from the gods and given it to something else, some other progeny; are we facing another Promethean revolution?”
lauren bowker
“My feeling is material science and nature will have solutions for us, but we've got to do it in a circular way.”
Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg
“Pollinator Pathmaker, in essence, was about how we can make something that takes us into the world of another but also shows the inadequacies of trying to imagine that other space. How can we open up that experience using art, to make us aware there is another world? That opens up lots of questions. Do insects even enjoy art? Do they have an aesthetic sense? Why do humans have an aesthetic sense?”
JESSE DAMIANI
Urgent futures. The signal above the noise.
KWAME BRAKO
“My greatest inspiration are the underdogs. Anybody's story where they came from nearly nothing and succeeded (but with a big heart), is always my inspiration.”
THE LONELY ASTRONAUT
“It may sound super cliche, but I always live by the motto "put yourself in someone else's shoes". I believe that empathy is one of the most important and sacred practices to live by, and that it is quickly becoming unlearned by humanity.”
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Here’s cheers to Sondra Baker and MUJEN. Fireworks in a glass!
NASTPLAS
“To what extent are we willing to intervene in nature to create new forms of life?”
kamila korbela
“I can handle it, but I don't think everybody's made to handle this pressure. Dealing with a $200 million painting for one of the richest people in the world, that's really a lot of pressure.”
VIVIAN GREVEN
One look at the work of Vivian Greven and you are hooked forever.
“So I would love to have a world where we feel much more connected, where human beings feel the connectivity and the connection of all; so that we see that everything we do has an impact on the world in the end. It is equally important to see that we are just little instances of beings in a huge world.”
CONNOR TINGLEY
IN CONVERSATION WITH VISHNU DASS
PHOTOGRAPHED BY JAMES MINCHIN
“When we look at symbolism around the world and mythologies and we’re like: how did this culture have a symbolic relationship to that culture 20,000 miles away? Because they were interested in that idea of what is beyond. I think that's within all of us. So, for me, it always comes down to being in a state of wonder.” Connor Tingley

"Antique civilizations inspire me and serve as my subjects, representing identities both universal and eternal in a contemporary context. Are these Greco-Roman statues and Egyptian sculptures really devoid of any flaws? How would they react in today's world? Through all these inspirations and my own experiences, I feel the need to confront and unite these two different worlds… On a simple sheet of paper, I found my solution: collage."
CREATORS EDITION
the brutalist x daniel blumberg
“The Brutalist took me a year and a half of kind of mad, intense work basically. But then sometimes I work with improvisation where you can just do something for maybe like 40 minutes with someone and that's finished, it's happened. It's done.”
Composer Daniel Blumberg
the brutalist x JUDY BECKER
“There's a lot that I live by and one of them is tattooed on my arm. It's ‘the art is in the concealing of the art’, and I have it in Latin ‘ars est in occultatione artis.”
