Cannes Film Festival 2023
high lights from the croisette
CANNES 2023
Films viewed from 8.30 in the morning until midnight; it makes a film lover positively giddy with choice.
The business machine chugs along mercilessly. People on the phone too busy to say hello, the hustle and bustle of the market place, deals being done in the bars, in the hotels along the croisette and in line while waiting for a screening. But the real art is happening on the screens and does not disappoint.
The flicker of light, the magic of cinema, and so it begins.

Anatomy Of A Fall
Director: Justine Triet
A French thriller directed by Justine Triet from a screenplay co-written by Triet and Arthur Harari.
For the past year, Sandra, a German writer, her French husband Samuel, and their eleven-year-old son Daniel have lived a secluded life in a remote town in the French Alps. When Samuel is found dead in the snow below their chalet, the police question whether he committed suicide or was killed. Samuel’s death is treated as suspicious, presumed murder, and Sandra becomes the main suspect. Little by little the trial becomes not just an investigation of the circumstances of Samuel’s death, but an unsettling psychological journey into the depths of Sandra and Samuel’s conflicted relationship.
