our river

A healthy river running through a city is a reflection of the well being of the inhabitants. Los Angeles has a river, but sadly it has been exploited and polluted, many of it’s veins concreted to the detriment of the wildlife and ecosystem.

Artist Sue Park

Here’s the good news. Substantial State and Federal funds have been allocated for its restoration. A collective of talented and passionate Los Angeles and New York based artists have dedicated their creative expertise to illustrate the ethos of the river.

Artist Michelle Robinson

Our River: city floodplain, at the Shatto Gallery in Los Angeles is an exploration of the iconic Los Angeles River. This exhibition aims to shed light on the river’s significance while inspiring its restoration and the revival of the lost species.

Artist Da Aie Park

Stretching an impressive 51 miles, the Los Angeles River winds from the Simi Hills and Santa Susana mountains, meandering through numerous communities before reaching its destination in Long Beach. Despite its prominence, a startling number of Angelenos remain unaware of its existence.

Artist Colin Fraser Gray
