Once again we have a chance to be awed by Nancy Baker Cahill’s work. Baker Cahill explores the intersection between art, technology and environment. SEISMIC is a new solo show opening in Chinatown Los Angeles at Charlie James Gallery.

Another reason to check out this exhibition is Baker Cahill’s massive Slipstream installation is on display in the downstairs gallery, stretching across the walls like a living, breathing organism. A culmination of her drawing practice spanning over a decade. Paper is drawn, torn, and put back together, creating this astonishing work of art.

“Instead of treating paper as a substrate, I started imagining it too as infinite space; a void from which I could tease out biomorphic forms waiting to be brought to life. This ongoing cycling between the analog and the digital has activated a strange loop; whenever I return to the starting place of paper, I’m not where I began.” writes Baker Cahill in her essay Embodied, Simultaneous: Toward Kinship and Expanded Consciousness in New Media

It’s a marvel to be experienced.
