NEW YORK

Caspar David Friedrich

(1774-1840)

Currently on show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY, this exhibition has the internet running hot and all those lucky enough to be in NY reporting to their friends, what they are missing. For those who are new to the German artist, it’s a wonderful way to discover his natural world. His art is as vibrant as the day he painted it, communicating with us across centuries.. Somehow in our world of computers and online communication, Friedrich seems more vital than ever. Reminding us of the mystery of our natural world and how it touches our soul in a way that is nuturing and necessary. How clever of the MET to mount the first ever solo exhibition of his work in the US right now, just when we need it most.

“I must stay alone and know that I am alone to contemplate and feel nature in full; I have to surrender myself to what encircles me, I have to merge with my clouds and rocks in order to be what I am.”

SARAH CAIN: TELL THE POETS

Curator Jamillah James wrote of the artist, "At their very core, Cain’s abstract paintings are radical and disorienting in the best possible way. Her attack and command of both physical and pictorial space is incisive yet wildly generous, leaving the viewer with no singular place to stand or look."

DRIFT X AUDI – DRIFT US

In the courtyard of Portrait Milano Hotel, enjoy the immersive installation that brings memories of fields of grass swaying with breezes. The reminder of the gentle movement of wind creating harmony in our bodies. A feeling of well being and deep connection to the natural world.

Drift explores good futures for humanity.

“Our bodies still contain an intelligence that, at times, seems forgotten in the frenzy of modern life. With these works, we hope to raise questions about what life is, imagining a future in which technology can help us re-establish our connection with nature.”
