DIRECTOR J.A. Bayona and COMPOSER
Michael Giacchino ON TEAMING UP FOR ‘society of the snow’

J.A. Bayona and Michael Giacchino discuss their latest collaboration on Society of the Snow and their lives in film. In this conversation they delve into childhood recollections; what made them become part of the film world? Did they crack the secret of Stanley Kubrick's successful mastery of film? Watch to discover what makes these two creative humans tick.

About the film - In 1972, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which had been chartered to fly a rugby team to Chile, crashed in the heart of the Andes. Only 29 of its 45 passengers survived the accident. Trapped in one of the most hostile and inaccessible environments on the planet, they have to resort to extreme measures to stay alive.

J.A. Bayona's film, Society of the Snow, follows these men as they band together to overcome the impossible. In this video, Bayona, alongside the Academy Award winning composer Michael Giacchino, describe how they crafted the astonishingly accurate portrayal of hope and humanity using exceptional craftsmanship and music.

J.A. Bayona's Society of the Snow is Spain's official selection for the International Feature Oscar and has already been nominated for a Golden Globe® Award (Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language) and two Critics Choice Awards nominations, including Best Foreign Language Film and Best Score for Michael Giacchino.
